Quick overview of installing a Stand-Alone SharePoint 2016 on a single server
Quick, quick, because I am traveling. :-) To install a stand-alone SharePoint 2016 instance on a single server you have to do a little dance. Specifically, you must install SQL Server first, then promote the server to a domain controller, and finally install SharePoint. The dance is required because SQL Server won't install on a domain controller. The thing that you will forget to do that will haunt you forever is rename the server before you install SQL Server. Once SQL Server is installed, renaming is a problem. Once you have promoted it to an AD domain controller, renaming is a scary 6 step process. You have been warned!
