Ok, so another quick aside. I am having to re-install a SharePoint 2016 farm and ran into an issue. I am using
AutoSPInstaller and the
AutoSPInstaller Online configuration tool, and the script would die when trying to create the configuration database. I had deleted the original, so I thought that I was good. It turns out not. You must run the SharePoint Configuration Wizard and disconnect the server from the farm, even if the database has been removed and the sites and app pools removed. I am not sure where it is stored on the server (yet) but this information is lurking to trip you up if you are re-building a farm on an existing machine.
